After a decade of templated dashboards and identical SaaS landing pages, a handful of teams are rediscovering the value of slow, considered design.

Open ten SaaS websites in 2024 and they looked, more or less, like the same product. Same gradient. Same hero. Same testimonial slab. Then something cracked.
A small group of design-led teams started doing the unfashionable thing: caring about typography, about line height, about the specific feel of a button under a cursor.
Craft as a competitive moat
The teams we interviewed are quietly convinced that craft has become a moat again. When every competitor can ship a feature in a weekend with AI assistance, the differentiator is taste.
It is not nostalgia. It is a bet that customers can feel the difference, even when they cannot articulate why.

What good looks like now
The best work we saw shared a few traits: restraint, density without clutter, motion used as punctuation rather than decoration, and an almost editorial respect for words.
It is design that is confident enough to be quiet. And in a noisy market, that may be the loudest thing of all.
